Greenville Scottish Games - June 6th and 7th 2008

Wee Scotland

View Schedule of Events

This year, our young tourists will go on another great Scottish adventure!

They’ll be greeted at the entrance by “Nessie” the Loch Ness Monster, then enter the registration office to pick-up their passports and travel guides.

To help us celebrate this very special day, "Scottish Idol" will be front and center on Glasgow Green Stage.  A truly excellent puppet show will feature characters from the past and the present, including some of our real live famous visitors to the Games. Our young audiences can vote for their favorite performers and learn a little about Scottish heritage at the same time. This stage will also feature the Award Ceremony for the Great Scot! Young Writers Contest, a children's choir singing Scottish songs, and many Very Important Person surprise visitors during the day.

All travelers are invited to bring their favorite doll, bear or stuffed animal and explore our range of traditional tartans at Kings College 2010.  They can "BUILD A KILT" and take their choice home with them on their MacDolls and MacBears. Our young travelers will find makings for swords, shields and crowns fit for a Prince, since a real one will be on hand!

Our Glasgow Green Makeup Shop will invite youngsters to have their faces painted with choices from a collection of beautiful face painting designs (including warriors!) created by area face-painting artists.

Of course the Not-so-heavy Athletic Games Arena will hold the usual Wee Caber Toss, Sheep’s Toss, Rubber Hatchet Throw, and Stone Carrying – followed by the Kid’s Kilted Mile.  All expertly set-up and managed, thanks to the Greenville County Recreational District.

The Wee St. Andrew’s Golf Course will be open for business, along with the incredible Sgurr Dearg climbing wall, and the Scottish Battle Field bounce house, slide and obstacles course.

After a day of exhausting fun, our tourists can cool off under our “Robert the Bruce” misting tent (be sure to look for the spider inside), rest in the Garden on Glasgow Green while watching the stage performances and contests, and purchase kid-friendly meals at Glasgow Green’s newest eatery, Bothy Restaurant.

Bring your “Wee Ones” on May 29 for a day of fun and adventure, as they tour, play and learn about Scottish tradition at Wee Scotland.   Be prepared; they won’t want to leave, and they will be armed with swords, shields, and rubber hatchets!
