Pageant Rules and Details
The Pageant preliminaries will be held at Timmons Auditorium on the Campus of Furman University Friday, May 28, 2010. The age divisions are: | Tiny Lad and Lassie | Ages 3 – 4 | | Wee Lad and Lassie | Ages 5 – 6 | | Little Lad and Lassie | Ages 7 - 8 | | Young Lad and Lassie | Ages 9- 10 | | Pre-Teen Lad and Lassie | Ages 11-12 | | Teen Lad and Lassie | Ages 13-15 | Pageant attire should convey a Scottish Theme. You may choose tartan, plaid, or Celtic style in a modern, traditional, formal, or imaginary interpretation. We’re looking for some touch of Scotland -- it may be as simple as a tartan sash or plaid trousers, or a kilt with a Braveheart shirt for the boys, or even a Celtic face paint design! The girls may like to braid their hair with multiple plaits. We invite and encourage you to be creative with your designs for your children, and we are looking forward to seeing some really innovative ideas with a Scottish flair! Contestants will be judged on the following: 1. Overall Appearance
2. POISE 3. STAGE CONFIDENCE/Personality The highest score from the collective Winning Lads and Winning Lassies determines the 2010 BONNIE LAD AND LASSIE. Trophies for all divisional winners. 2010 Bonnie Lad and Lassie will receive trophies, Custom Crowns, Custom Sashes and US Savings Bonds for $250 each. Pageant reserves right to all photos for next yer's promotion. ADDITIONAL AWARDS MOST OUTSTANDING SCOTTISH FACT -- $100 US Savings Bond Each child will be required to state their name followed by an Outstanding Scottish Fact (age appropriate). We will have a Scottish Fact expert for verification. He will select the winner and 1st and 2nd runners-up for the most original presentation of a Scottish fact. Time limit is 30 seconds. These top individuals will perform their facts for Prince Edward Saturday when he visits the Pageant. The fact score is not included in the judges' score. SILVER THISTLE AWARD -- $100 US Savings Bond Given to contestant who has most support and admirer pages sold. Runner-up will receive award. BEST SCOTTISH ATTIRE A winner will be selected in all age divisions. There will one Overall Winner selected in this category. A trophy will be awarded. MOST PHOTOGENIC All Lad and Lassie contestants may enter photo for separate judging by Millie Lewis Modeling Agency (5" X 7" recommended size, 8" X 10" acceptable) at a cost of $10 for first photo and $5 for each additional photo (in clear protective sleeve, label with name and Division). One runner-up will be selected from each division and from these runners-up the Most Photogenic Winner will be selected. This winner will receive from Millie Lewis a Scholarship for their Personal Development/Modeling Program, valued from $350 - $495 depending on age of winner. The photos must be turned in on Friday, May 28. They will be returned on Saturday. It is your responsibility to retrieve your photo(s) before leaving the Pageant. BEST SMILE All Lad and Lassie contestants may enter photo (5" X 7", 8" X 10" acceptable)) at a cost of $10 for the first photo and $5 for each additional photo (in clear protective sleeve, label with name and Division). One runner-up will be selected from each division and from these runners-up the BEST SMILE winner will be selected. Contestant's photos will be returned Saturday but must be picked up by contestant or parent before leaving pageant. Winners will be announced on stage Saturday and will receive awards. GENERAL INfORMATION Every contestant will receive a participation award. Individual Lad and Lassie winners of each division will receive a crown/tiara and additional award. For each age division with more than 5 participants there will be a first and second runner up boy and girl. Runners-up will receive an additional award. ENTRY FEE is $50 per contestant. No acceptance of any contestant with incomplete entry form. Pageant Admission will be $5 at the door. Contestant and adult assisting child ONLY will receive ticket to Greenville Scottish Games on Saturday. Discounted adult tickets are avaiable at time of registration for $12, and at any time Advance Discount Tickets are available on Games website for $17. Because of national media coverage and the presence of Prince Edward, we suggest you also order your tickets for friends and family early. No on-site contestants will be accepted. Register EARLY, we are expecting a large number of participants and will close the Pageant when the assigned number for each division is met.
